Go to a car wash
Going to a car wash is a lot more water efficient then washing your car at home.

Green Lifestyle TV- Filming the pilot episode

Although filming a talk show sounds simple, plenty of work is done behind the scenes. We began arriving at ‘Heaven on Earth’ (the filming site in Los Angeles, CA) around 2 PM, and we immediately got busy. Pretty soon the registration table was all set up, and waivers were being passed around. Our green hair stylist Juxta opened up her mini salon on the side and got to work, one by one styling the hosts’ hair. Kevin, with assistance from Tamara began setting up the cameras and lighting equipment while figuring out the perfect angles to shoot. Pretty soon all the hosts (Juxta, Blythe, Stahsha, Dorit, Tamara, Nian, Felicia, and Samantha) on the first show, ‘A Green Perspective’ were dressed and ready to shoot and we were on our way to begin filming.

The green women sit down for a discussion

The introduction to the show took a while to film, but in the end we got it right. Basically, Samantha opens the door to find the camera/audience, and guides them inside towards the seven green ladies. The discussion begins, and a wide variety of topics are covered: comparing the oil spill to our own lives, cleaning up any valuable energy we may be losing, and looking for solutions that solve unaddressed personal wounds. It took a couple of hours to get through the 30 minutes of the show, but in the end it turned out pretty solid.

Rhoda is enlightened by the green men

We took a break for a few minutes and Kevin set up the area for the next segment, ‘Green Men Can Talk.’ We had Jonathan dressed up as “Rhoda,” the un-green grandmother. Gabriel, Dan, and Dr. David Wong were also on the show. The green men went over several topics, particularly discussing methods that promote green sustainability, like riding one’s bike to work a couple times a week, or buying less plastic.

Gabriel and Vanessa discuss vegan cuisine

The third and final segment was the Spanish version of ‘A Green Perspective,’ starring Gabriel and Vanessa. Speaking fluent Spanish, they discussed topics like vegan-mexican cuisine. these two hosts breezed through the show and finished with a bang by adding in a few “cha cha cha” dance moves.

By the time we had finished it was 9 PM, not bad timing at all. The entire day was a success; we ran into very few problems, and we fixed whatever obstacles we did run into. The amazing location sent out relaxed and green vibes, and all of the hosts provided their own unique qualities to spark a great pilot episode. Our next step is to advertise our new channel and to spread awareness by promoting green sustainability.
